Leaving Casablanca behind, continue to Rabat, Morocco’s capital and one of its four imperial cities. Visit the iconic Hassan Tower, admire the elegant Mausoleum of Mohammed V, and stroll through the picturesque Kasbah of the Udayas overlooking the Bou Regreg River. Rabat - Chefchaouen

The Blue Pearl

Leave the Atlantic coast behind as you travel north through rolling hills and peaceful countryside toward the Rif Mountains.

By afternoon, arrive in the enchanting town of Chefchaouen, famously known as Morocco’s Blue Pearl. Spend the rest of the day wandering through its maze of blue-painted alleyways, lively artisan shops, and charming cafés. Relax in Outa El Hammam Square, browse handmade local crafts, or simply enjoy the peaceful atmosphere that makes Chefchaouen one of Morocco’s most photogenic destinations.

3
Chefchaouen - Volubilis - Meknes - Fes

Ancient Morocco

Enjoy a final morning in Chefchaouen before heading toward one of Morocco’s most fascinating archaeological sites.

Visit the remarkably preserved Roman city of Volubilis, where ancient mosaics, triumphal arches, and temple ruins reveal centuries of history. Continue to Meknes, the imperial capital established by Sultan Moulay Ismail, where you’ll explore impressive monuments including Bab Mansour, El Hedim Square, and the Mausoleum of Moulay Ismail.

Later in the afternoon, arrive in Fes, Morocco’s oldest imperial city and cultural capital. Check into your traditional riad inside the medina for an authentic overnight stay.

Secrets of Fes

Today is dedicated to exploring the timeless city of Fes with an experienced local guide. Begin with panoramic views overlooking the ancient medina before visiting the magnificent Royal Palace gates. Wander through the labyrinth of narrow streets where craftsmen continue traditions passed down for centuries. Discover the beautiful Bou Inania and Al Attarine Madrasas, admire the historic Al Quaraouiyine University, and witness the colorful leather dyeing process at the famous Chouara Tanneries.

Cross mountain passes and changing landscapes before reaching the breathtaking Ziz Valley, where thousands of date palms stretch across one of Morocco’s largest oasis systems. Mount your camel and ride across the towering Erg Chebbi dunes as the sun paints the sand in brilliant shades of gold and orange.

Reach your luxury desert camp where you’ll enjoy traditional Moroccan cuisine, Berber music around the campfire, and an unforgettable night beneath one of the clearest star-filled skies in the world.

Merzouga Desert - Rissani - Todra Gorge - Dades Valley

Desert to Dades

Wake early to witness the magical sunrise over the Sahara before enjoying breakfast at camp. Return to Merzouga by camel or 4×4 and continue to Rissani, the historic trading center of the Tafilalt region. If your visit coincides with a market day, experience one of southern Morocco’s most authentic traditional souks.

Continue through palm-filled oases toward the spectacular Todra Gorge, where sheer limestone cliffs soar high above a crystal-clear river. Enjoy time to walk through the canyon before following the scenic route into the beautiful Dades Valley.

Pause at the famous Monkey Fingers rock formations and panoramic viewpoints before checking into your hotel for dinner and overnight.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything else you might be wondering about the trip

You don’t need to be an athlete, but you should be comfortable walking for an hour or two over uneven ground — gorge trails, kasbah stairs, soft sand. The camel trek itself needs no fitness at all; the camel does the work. If you have concerns about a specific day, ask us before booking and we’ll tell you honestly whether it’s a fit.
March–May and September–November are ideal: warm days, cool desert nights, and comfortable temperatures in the mountains. July and August in the Sahara can exceed 45°C at midday, and December–February nights in the desert camp drop close to freezing — both doable with the right prep, but worth knowing in advance.
Yes — most of our travelers come solo and join a small group of 8–12 people. Rooms are shared on a twin-share basis by default; if you’d rather have your own room, a single supplement is available on request.
Layers. Desert days are warm, but temperatures can drop sharply after sunset, especially outside summer. A warm mid-layer, a scarf or shesh for sand and sun, and comfortable closed shoes for the dunes and gorge walks cover most of it. We send a full packing list once you book.
We’d recommend bottled or filtered water throughout, which is what your guide and driver will drink too. It’s widely available, and we’ll make sure you always have access to it, including out at the desert camp.
Yes. Vegetarian, vegan, and most allergy-related requirements are easy to manage across the riads, hotels, and desert camp — just let us know when you book so we can flag it with each stop along the route.
Full details are in your booking confirmation, but broadly: cancellations more than 60 days out receive a full refund minus the deposit; inside 30 days, cancellation fees increase on a sliding scale. We’ll always talk it through with you directly if plans change.
